Kingwin 1220w Mach 1 Power Supply

The back of the 1220w Mach 1 has the same stamped nickel plated steel vent we've seen on other models of Kingwin's Mach 1 line.  Clean free flowing air exchange here.  The power port and on/off rocker switch are on the right side with an Active PFC label next to them.  Active PFC is a way to make a power supply more efficient in its power delivery.  Hence the 80 Plus Certification given to the Mach 1 line.  Active PFC automatically adjusts for variances in the AC input voltage to keep the unit's power delivery clean and stable.  AC in power supplies stands for Alternating Current.  AC Power oscillates continuously, so to keep the unit operating at peak efficiency, the Active PFC adjusts this input voltage so the output is consistent.

Kingwin's Mach 1 unit is modular with what they dub as aircraft style connectors.  The connection points have a screw type outer lock instead of the plastic catch tabs typically seen elsewhere.  Shown below are the eight power out ports that you will connect the modular power cables to.  Unused ports are covered by rubber caps to keep them clean and sealed off.

The native cables on the 1220 watt Kingwin Mach 1 are the main ATX power cable which is a 20+4 setup as well as a 4-pin AUX and 8-Pin AUX power cable.  The 20+4 type cables allow upgrading a power supply with an older 20-pin motherboard.  Look at the cable braiding and black shrink wrapped ends.  Kingwin as always, has done an exceptional job making the lines aesthetically pleasing and robust to weather years of any possible chaffing.

Shifting our focus to the modular cables, let's start with the PCI-E lines.  Two 6-pin PCI-E cables are included along with two PCI-E 6+2 cables.  This allows you can use the extra two as standard PCI-E or use them with the extra two pin line just like the 20+4 ATX power cable making it an 8-pin PCI-E plug.  Also shown below are the EZ-Grip connectors on the Molex plugs.

The individual power cables plug into the main unit and are then secured by screw type locks as we already noted.  This "aircraft style" look is truly unique and gives the Kingwin Mach 1 an edge over other high end power supply units.

Listed below are all the Mach 1 cables by type, number of connections and length.

  • (1) Native 20+4 pin ATX - 20"

  • (1) Native 8 pin AUX - 22"

  • (1) Native 4 pin AUX - 22"
